The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Makkah Region activated the emergency pathways for heart attacks and strokes for 90 critical cases during July 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve response times and the quality of care for high-risk emergencies.
The heart attack pathway was activated for 46 cases, with Jeddah recording the highest number at 27 cases, followed by the Holy Capital (Makkah) with 13 cases, and Taif with 6 cases.
As for the stroke pathway, it was activated for 44 cases. Jeddah again led with 23 cases, followed by the Holy Capital with 18 cases, and Taif with 3 cases.
Activating these pathways is considered one of the Authority’s most critical programs in managing life-threatening emergencies. It helps reduce response time and improve survival rates through direct coordination with referral hospitals and ensuring the readiness of
ambulance teams and advanced medical equipment.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to continuously enhancing emergency response efficiency and strengthening integration with partners in the healthcare sector to achieve the highest levels of performance and service for beneficiaries in the region.
