As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance field readiness, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority intensified its presence inside the Grand Mosque in Makkah by deploying 24 EMS teams supported by 83 male and female volunteers. This initiative aims to provide urgent medical care to pilgrims, especially during peak times such as Fridays.
The operational plan began with 14 ambulance teams and the deployment of 12 fully equipped ambulance vehicles strategically positioned at key locations inside and around the mosque. Thanks to the restructuring of field distribution and integration of efforts, the number of active ambulance teams increased to 24, working in harmony to cover all corridors, courtyards, and entrances—ensuring swift response to emergency cases.
The Authority emphasized the vital role played by volunteers in supporting emergency medical services and providing on-the-ground assistance. This reflects its commitment to empowering volunteer personnel and
promoting the values of humanitarian work, thereby contributing to the enhancement of emergency medical service quality for visitors of the Holy Mosque.
The Authority confirmed that these plans are part of an integrated system designed to ensure the highest levels of readiness and rapid response.
