The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in the Eastern Region has begun implementing the “Moa’ath” project, aimed at enhancing emergency safety within workplaces and various work environments. Through this initiative, the Authority seeks to raise the level of emergency readiness in the premises of governmental and private entities across the Eastern Region.
Dr. Khalid bin Radi Al-Anzi, Director General of SRCA in the Eastern Region, explained that the implementation of the “Moa’ath” project holds great importance in improving the quality of emergency medical services and ensuring rapid intervention in critical cases occurring at workplaces, whether in government or private sectors.
Dr. Al-Anzi noted that the Authority, through the Moa’ath team, will train staff of these entities on basic first aid skills, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of the automated external defibrillator (AED), and how to handle cases of bleeding, choking, and others.
He added that the Authority plans to conduct visits to various establishments across sectors to develop a framework and procedures that ensure the fastest possible response without obstacles, as well as training personnel on the essential skills needed to manage critical and emergency cases.
Dr. Al-Anzi pointed out that the project targets achieving three main tracks at each participating facility: training 10% of the workforce in basic emergency skills, providing AED devices on every floor of the facility to guarantee easy access, and establishing an emergency path including ambulance parking and a plan to expedite the arrival of emergency teams to the patient.
He further explained that the facility receives an Emergency Safety Shield upon fulfilling the three tracks and passing the safety drills.
Notably, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority launched the “Moa’ath” project in memory of a citizen who tragically passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest while at work, may God have mercy on him. The Authority aims through this project to include all governmental and private entities in the Eastern Region due to its vital role in saving lives and contributing to making the community safer in terms of emergency response, thus preventing the recurrence of such painful and impactful incidents caused by sudden cardiac arrests.
