The air ambulance service of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA), by heart attack pathway, helped save the life of a Bangladeshi national who suffered a heart attack in a remote area of the Asir region.
The incident began when the SRCA Command and Control Center in Jazan received an emergency report at 12:46 p.m. on Monday, indicating a case of fainting inside a remote school in the village of Al-Rasasah, near the Asir border.
A ground ambulance and an air ambulance were dispatched immediately. The estimated response time for the ground team was 1 hour and 20 minutes, but the air ambulance significantly reduced the response time, reaching the patient within just 20 minutes. Upon arrival, and after conducting an ECG, the teams confirmed the patient—of Bangladeshi nationality—was suffering from a heart attack. The cardiac emergencies pathway was promptly activated, and the patient was transported within 20 minutes to the cardiac catheterization lab at Prince Mohammed bin Nasser Hospital.
The air ambulance service plays a critical role in bridging long distances, enabling rapid response to emergency calls, supporting ground teams, and transporting patients to specialized hospitals while maintaining high-quality care within a short time frame.
The heart attack pathway contributes to saving lives by ensuring patients with cardiac conditions are transported quickly and directly to catheterization labs. SRCA’s teams conduct ECGs on-site and transmit the data to control centers and catheterization units in real time, allowing the hospitals to prepare for immediate intervention without delays.
