The Command and Control Center of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in the Eastern Province responded on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11:52 a.m. to an emergency report regarding a traffic collision in a desert area near Dammam.
An air ambulance and a ground emergency team were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, one critically injured individual was found. On-site emergency medical care was provided immediately, and the patient was transported via air ambulance to King Fahad Military Medical Complex in Dhahran after activating the trauma pathway—implemented for the first time in the Eastern Province through the air ambulance service.
Dr. Khaled bin Radi Al-Enezi, Director General of SRCA in the Eastern Province, explained that the trauma pathway involves transporting critically injured patients (classified as red-level cases) to level 1 or level 2 trauma centers, with prior notification to the receiving hospital to activate the trauma code in the emergency department.
He added that the air ambulance service in the Eastern Province is fully prepared to respond rapidly to incidents requiring its intervention, in coordination with ground teams stationed across the region to help preserve lives.
SRCA urges citizens and residents to request emergency medical services by calling 997 or using the Asifny app. The Authority also emphasizes the importance of safe driving, avoiding high speeds, and cooperating with paramedics by allowing ambulances clear access during emergencies. Individuals are also reminded not to gather at accident scenes to avoid obstructing emergency responders. SRCA wishes safety and wellbeing to all.
