The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Qassim Region responded to a report of an unconscious patient inside his vehicle on one of the roads west of Qassim.
The Director General of the Authority’s branch in Qassim, Khalid bin Saleh Al-Khodr, explained that upon the arrival of the ambulance teams, it was found that the patient was exhibiting symptoms of a stroke. An immediate activation of a specialized medical pathway was initiated, aiming to expedite the transfer of stroke patients to specialized medical centers for prompt treatment within the ideal time frame, ensuring prevention of brain tissue injury or damage. Rapid intervention is considered a decisive factor in reducing complications for the patient.
He added that due to the patient’s location being approximately 315 kilometers west of Buraidah, the nearest hospital, a coordinated transfer was arranged between ground ambulance and air ambulance services. A meeting point was designated near the village of Dubah to transfer the patient by air ambulance to Buraidah Central Hospital to continue treatment.
Al-Khodr confirmed that activating the stroke pathway has significantly contributed to improving the chances of successful treatment for patients with these critical cases by reducing response times and providing necessary medical aid swiftly. He also pointed out that the operational control room operates around the clock to receive reports via the unified number (997) or the “Es’afni” (Help Me) app, which facilitates easy requests for assistance through smart devices.
