345,818 Emergency Cases Handled by Saudi Red Crescent Authority Ambulance Teams in Makkah Region for 2024
08/Jan/2025

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah Region revealed its statistics for the year 2024, reporting that the ambulance teams responded to a total of 345,818 cases within the region.

The Authority clarified that the cases varied, with medical cases constituting the highest percentage at 154,893 cases. The highest number of these reports was recorded in the Holy Capital (Makkah) with 91,184 cases, followed by Jeddah with 46,388 cases, and Taif in third place with 17,321 cases. Accident reports came second with a total of 98,496 cases, with the highest proportion in Jeddah at 40,867 cases, followed by the Holy Capital at 34,947 cases, and Taif with 13,682 cases. Other cases totaled 101,429. Meanwhile, air ambulance services in the region transported 333 cases as part of the air emergency transport pathway.

The Authority possesses an ambulance fleet equipped with the latest emergency technologies to confront disasters and urgent crises, fully equipped to deal with various emergency cases. This includes ambulances, 4-wheel drive vehicles, golf carts, and motorcycles.

The Authority seeks to reduce response times by encouraging vehicle drivers to cooperate with ambulances by giving way when emergency cases are being handled and avoiding gathering around the scene, which could obstruct teams and delay arrival. Additionally, the Authority emphasizes refraining from chasing ambulances during emergency transport and response.

According to the Authority, there are 98 centers in Makkah Region operating around the clock, including 24 centers in Taif, 36 in Jeddah, and 38 centers affiliated with the Holy Capital, staffed with doctors, specialists, and emergency medical technicians.

The Authority confirmed the importance of requesting emergency services in urgent cases by calling 997 or through the “Es’afni” (Help Me) app, which saves significant time and effort by accurately determining the caller’s location, facilitating the ambulance team's arrival at the reported location. The Authority wishes everyone continued health and wellness.
