The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Makkah region has elevated its state of readiness in response to warnings issued by the National Center of Meteorology regarding heavy rainfall expected across the region. The Authority has mobilized all available resources to ensure preparedness for the anticipated weather conditions.
The Authority confirmed the full operational readiness of the Command and Control Room, all ambulance centers in the region, specialized response teams, and volunteer ambulance units. It also noted that, thanks to God, emergency services have not been affected by the rainfall so far.
Readiness was raised across 98 ambulance centers in the Makkah region, staffed by 1,420 healthcare providers—including doctors, specialists, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians—all fully prepared to respond. The operational fleet includes approximately 149 vehicles, consisting of fully equipped ambulances and disaster response units such as Shawafat, Sanad, Hadaj, and the Tuwaiq emergency bus, in addition to air ambulance services that support ground operations. All are outfitted with the latest medical and technical equipment to handle such scenarios.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority urged all citizens and residents to follow the instructions issued by relevant authorities, exercise caution during adverse weather conditions, and adhere to traffic safety regulations to avoid accidents—especially during heavy rain. The public is advised to drive carefully on highways, avoid flood-prone areas and rainwater pools, refrain from crowding accident scenes, and allow ambulance teams to perform their duties without obstruction.
The Authority reminds the public that emergency service requests can be made at any time via the 24-hour hotline (997) or through the “Asafny” app in case of any emergency, God forbid.
