The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Eastern Region has released its 2024 statistics regarding emergency reports received by its Command and Control Center.
The Authority reported a total of 301,721 calls received by the Command and Control Room, of which 148,235 were emergency reports classified as urgent cases requiring immediate medical attention. Additionally, the “Asafny” application recorded 2,870 emergency reports during the same period.
The Authority stated that it responded to 101,134 emergency cases in 2024, providing medical assistance and hospital transport for 65,447 of them. Another 35,687 cases received on-site medical care that did not require hospital transfer. These cases were handled by highly trained and specialized medical personnel using state-of-the-art medical equipment available in ambulance vehicles.
The Authority aims to reduce response times by encouraging vehicle drivers to give way to ambulances during emergency responses and to avoid crowding, which can obstruct ambulance crews and delay their arrival. It also stressed the importance of refraining from following ambulance vehicles during emergency transport or on-site intervention.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority emphasized the importance of requesting emergency services in the event of a critical situation by calling 997 or using the “Asafny” application, which offers several features including precise caller location detection, significantly facilitating the arrival of emergency teams to the scene.
The Authority concluded by wishing everyone continued health and safety.
